Sunday 6 September 2020

Reading: Matthew 18:15-20
Call to Worship
(based on Romans 13: 8-14 and Matthew 18: 15-20)

People of God, open your eyes!
Look around!
The presence of our Lord Jesus Christ is here--
among us and within us.
God’s salvation is close at hand--
nearer than you know.
So open your hearts and minds to the Spirit,
and let’s worship God together!

READING:
Matthew 18:15-20 (NIV)
Dealing With Sin in the Church
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

A Prayer for ‘Me’
O Living God of my past, present and future,
 I praise you.
For, you are with me in this moment.
Fill me with your joy when I am sad and dispirited.
Empower me with your Holy Spirit
that my strength may be renewed,
so that I can sing a new song in this strange land,
in a world which cries out for your justice and peace.
All this I ask in the name of Jesus,
 in whom I become
a new creation.
Amen
